Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and was raised by a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is a Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. She has two elder brothers and two younger brothers. She was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents been to the country in the 1980s as a result of the turmoil in Sri Lanka. In Australia she was enrolled in Media and Communications at University of Sydney after graduating from Bahrain. With a love of the world of languages and cultures, she joined the Berlitz school of languages in which she was able to learn Spanish and improved her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 was the crown of March 2006. she was also a part of Miss Universe 2006 Following her win of the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she entered the world of TV and was the host of a show that was a business show in Sri Lanka called Lanka Business Report. Padukone, her mother was the famous badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and grew up in Bangalore. When she was in her teens she played at the national badminton tournaments level. But, she resigned from the sport in order to make a profession as fashion designer. Padukone is a native of Mangalorean origins and speaks Konkani as her mother tongue. Her family ancestors are from the village of Padukone within the Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state of India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 1980s. Her mother, a travel agency, also hails from this area.
